Cornell Haynes, Jr. (born November 2, 1974), better known by his point name Nelly, is an American rapper, singer, musician, CEO, and enterpriser. He has performed with the rap group St. Lunatics since 1993 and signed to Universal Records in 1999. Under Universal, Nelly made his solo debut in 2000 with Country Grammar, the lay claim course of action of which was a top ten hit.With his following albums, Nellyville (2002) and the same-day dual release stew and Suit (2004) and compiling sweat suit (2006), Nelly continued to give back many chart-topping hits. The rapper’s fifth studio album, plaque Knuckles, was released released on September 16, 2008 after several delays.
It is Nelly’s first album not to be certified platinum. The first official single, “Party People, which features Fergie, was released on sue 18, 2008, and peaked at 40 on the US “Billboard Hot 100″ and 14 on the “UK Singles Chart”. “Stepped on My J’z” which features Ciara and Jermaine Dupri, was released as the spot single from the album on June 11, 2008. It peaked at number 90 on the US Hot 100. The third official single, “Body on Me”, which features Akon and Ashanti, was released on June 9, 2008 and peaked at number 42 on the US Hot 100 and 17 on the “UK Singles Chart”.He won Grammy Awards in 2003 and 2004 and starred in the 2005 remodel film The longer Yard with Adam Sandler and Chris Rock. He has two clothing lines, Vokal and Apple Bottoms. He has been referred to by dick Shapiro as “one of the biggest stars of the new millennium”, and the RIAA ranks Nelly as one of the best-selling male artists in American music history, with 21 1000000 albums sold in the conjunct States. On December 11th, 2009 Nelly was graded as the 3rd Top Overall Artist of the 2000-2009 decade by Billboard cartridge. Allmusic also notes his “tongue-twisting” hooks, which are also frequently sung rather than rapped. Nelly has released many hip hop music videos in the hip hop industry.
Nelly’s rapping genius has been described by Peter Shapiro as using “unforgettable hooks based on schoolyard songs, double-dutch chants, and nonsense rhymes” and has a “Missouri twang”. Allmusic suggests Nelly’s style is based mostly on where he comes from – “Nelly’s locale sure as shooting informs his rapping style, which is as much country as urban, and his dialect as well, which is as much Southern drawl as Midwestern twang”. Young Jeezy Lose My Mind would be the next song name to come out.
